Nestled in the lush hills of the
coffee-growing region in eastern Mexico, is Xalapa
(Jalalpa)- namesake of the Jalapeņo chili pepper -
the beautiful capital city of the state of Veracruz.
Xalapa, a lively university town and cultural and
educational center, is very popular with Mexican and
international students, artists, and tourists.
Live and learn Spanish with the best of teachers and
facilities. Home-stay and cultural programs let you
immerse yourself in Spanish language and Mexican culture
and have the experience of a lifetime. Arts, crafts,
films, music, theatre, nightlife, museums, scenery,
local cuisine and a short 60-minute ride to the beaches
of Veracruz on the Gulf of Mexico - Xalapa has it
all. The town’s museum of Anthropology is second
only to Mexico City’s in scale and scope, focusing
on the 3 great cultures of the east coast, Olmec,
Totonac and Huastec.
The well preserved colonial center with its steep
winding streets, and the subtropical surroundings
and abundance of parks and gardens, makes Xalapa a
wonderful setting for Spanish study. Moreover, with
fewer English-speaking inhabitants than other Mexican
destinations, Xalapa is the perfect destination for
language acquisition. Studying in Xalapa offers a
rare opportunity to immerse yourself more fully in
the Spanish language and Mexican culture.
