Join an international student body
in the picturesque town and ski resort of Chamonix,
next to Mont-Blanc. While studying French and making
friends with students from all over the globe, experience
unlimited skiing and snow boarding throughout winter
and spring.
Since 1999, our partner institute
has successfully run a French language school in Chamonix
together with Centre Universitaire d’Études
Françaises at Université Stendhal —
Grenoble 3 (CUEF). With more than 100 years of experience
in language training, CUEF is considered as one of
the most important language centers in France.
Chamonix is situated in the heart
of the French Alps, on the border of France, Switzerland
and Italy. Surrounded by high peaks and vast glaciers,
the picturesque town lies in a valley at the doorstep
to the highest mountain in Europe, Mont-Blanc (4,807 m).
People travel to Chamonix from all
over the world in search of fresh powder, breathtaking
alpine adventures, or just a glimpse of the unique
scenery surrounding the town.

What People are Saying
Cultural & Recreational Activities
The skiing in the valley is world class
for all levels: the extremely steep south faces of le
Brévent, the easy enjoyable slopes in Le Tour,
the high alpine terrain with massive glaciers at Aiguille
du Midi and the forest skiing in La Flégere. Take
lessons to improve your skiing and boarding; you’ll
improve your downhill skills, as well as your French.
You may also try climbing, either in
frozen waterfalls with ice axes and crampons or on the
world famous granite faces around Chamonix. In March the
weather gets milder and conditions are suitable for trekking,
mountaineering, parapenting and mountain biking.
But Chamonix doesn’t resemble a
typical ski resort. The ambience of the lively streets
is of a small town. The local population numbers around
15,000. So walk around in town, do some shopping, have
an espresso at an outdoor café and try the local
delicious Savoyard food at one of the many restaurants.
Later in the evening, the bars and clubs invite you to
the intense nightlife with bands and DJs entertaining
the crowds most nights of the week. Go and see a movie
at the cinema — do not miss the film festival
Les Avantes Premières in March!
