Montpellier, the capital of the Languedoc-Roussillon
region in southern France, is a lively University
city with year-round sunshine, 300 days per year!
It offers a beautiful historic center with narrow
picturesque streets, elegant private mansions dating
back to the 16th century and many tree-shaded cafés,
and also an interesting cultural life. Thanks to its
countless historical treasures, the city is officially
called a “Ville d’Art”. Many street
musicians and artists as well as a variety of famous
festivals contribute to its cultural life. The warm,
Mediterranean atmosphere is reflected in the day to
day life of the town.
Montpellier opens like an amphitheater
towards the Mediterranean with its long, sandy beaches
and the lagoons with huge colonies of wild pink flamingos.
The Place de la Comédie is the modern town
center with slick office buildings, 19th century hotels,
and a large plaza that comes alive at night with street
musicians and strolling entertainers.
Thanks to its excellent location
between Provence, the Camargue, the Cevennes mountains
and the Pyrenees, Montpellier offers a wide range
of excursion opportunities. The interior is beautiful,
with many gorges, creeks and picturesque villages.
This is also the biggest wine growing area of the
world with excellent wines to be discovered and tasted.
The climate is excellent; summer lasts until the end
of October and you can even sit outside in winter
to sip a café au lait or a glass of wine in
one of the numerous cafés.
Study French in a central, convenient
and attractive location in the heart of Montpellier’s
historic center. The language school, with air-conditioned
rooms, operates two centers within 3 minutes on foot
of each other. The busy streets you can wander into
after class are filled with small boutiques, gourmet
shops and typical coffee shops. You’ll be only
a few steps away from the sunny terraces of the “Place
de la Comédie”, the main square of Montpellier
and its fascinating opera. The green open space of
the “Esplanade Charles de Gaulle” and
all monuments of the historic center are within minutes.

the international Montpellier -
Méditerranée is located 5 miles
outside the city. There are 14 daily connections
with Paris (1 hour flying time), but also
direct flights from some European cities such
as London and most French cities. By train:
Montpellier is on the main line Paris-Lyon-Perpignan-Barcelona,
and is connected to all major cities in France
and Europe by TGV (travel time between Paris
and Montpellier is 3 hours 25 minutes
approx.). By car: Montpellier is on the main
motorway Lyon-Barcelona and offers easy access
from all European countries.

Cultural & Recreational Activities
Organized activities include a guided
tour of the historic center of Montpellier (2 hours, free),
social events such as karaoke night, restaurant visit,
bar visit (drinks and food not included), visits to museums,
theaters, concerts (entrance fee not included); and day
excursions to Pont du Gard, Camargue, Provence and more.
Half-day excursions are also available (Nîmes, St.
Guilhem, Aigues-Mortes). Some activities incur a
