July 11-17; 18-24, 2004
Home base is a beautiful 15th-century
villa perched on a hilltop 1/2 hour from Florence.
In the Chianti hills, enjoy an inspirational and artistic
approach to Tuscany, and the perfect setting for painting
and drawing for all levels. Your hosts, an artist
and art historian couple, have created a charming,
friendly, and relaxed atmosphere in their villa. Each
room has its own unique character with views of the
gentle landscape, the olive groves and cypresses standing
out against the skyline. Feast on divine meals prepared
with local produce and served with locally-produced
Chianti. Workshops run during the last 2 weeks of
July, and take place Monday-Friday with morning and
afternoon sessions, mostly outdoors in beautiful settings.
Teenagers and non-painting partners are welcome, too.
Régis Burckel de Tell, your
teacher, first studied at the Lille Fine Art School
and then pursued his artistic studies in Paris with
the American painter Henri Goetz and finally in Rome
where he stayed for a number of years perfecting his
skills. He has regular exhibitions in France, Europe
and the United States and combines professionalism
with a long teaching experience. Since 1975, he has
taught oil, watercolor, drawing, pastel and “gobelins”
techniques of tapestry in his own “Atelier de
Calvisson”, in France, where painting, drawing,
watercolor and tapestry workshops are offered April
through the end of October (from Sunday to Saturday).
Non-painting friends and family are
welcome. If you go with a companion who would like
to take a cooking and wines course and/or Italian
in Florence both of you can stay at the villa and
each participate in your own activities.
