Study Italian, and much more, in
the San Lorenzo quarter in the heart of the old part
of the Florence, just a few steps away from the Medici
Chapels and the famed central market area. Enroll
in our partner school, LDM, where they’ve been
teaching Italian for over 30 years! Your classes take
place in a former convent dating back to the medieval
period. The building has been modernized to include
a wide range of conveniences such as a cafeteria,
air-conditioning, reading rooms and an attractive
courtyard garden.
Prices include all educational material,
final certificate and most recreational activities
(at least 20 hours per month). No enrollment
fees.

an apartment) are usually double: it is advisable to reserve

The apartments are generally modest, but clean and adequate
for the student’s needs. The rent period begins
the day before the beginning of classes and ends the day
after the last day of class.
For housing reservation, a deposition of € 150 is
required.

Photography, Watercolor (summer, for credit) |
| Each course is 90 contact hours
(6 credits), and all 3 are taught in English. No
previous drawing, painting or photography experience
is required. Spend the first week in the Chianti
countryside where you’ll be involved full
time with your workshop. The culture and history
of the Chianti region will be analyzed for a better
understanding of the human and architectural environment.
Then the following 3 weeks will take place in Florence.
In Chianti you will practice through daily field
trips in the magnificent scenery of the Sienese
Chianti region, hiking along the trails of the one
of the most famous and spectacular country sides
of the world. Students will work on assignments/projects,
given by the professor, that will be critically
reviewed each week.

Sketchbook Under the Tuscan
Sun, May 22-29 (SA PD FC 280)
Learn to draw, sketch and paint in the Tuscan
countryside. The method will consist of practical
field work and theoretical lectures. You will
practice through daily field trips. The successive
three weeks will be held in Florence, both at
school and around the city. Research the traditional
form of sketching from works in the museums
and streets of Florence as artists have done
for centuries. Work from sculptures, paintings,
architecture, formal gardens, as well as drawing
from life in the street and markets. You will
be encouraged to write notations and observations
as well as research your areas of interest.
Develop a final drawing and sketchbook portfolio.

Photography Workshop Under
the Tuscan Sun, May 22-29,
June 26-July 3 (SA CM PH 185)
You will learn how to correctly use the camera,
how to expose film, the basic principles of
photography and composition. An introductory
outline about the history of photography will
be given. The method will consist of practical
field work and theoretical lectures, videos
and slide projections. You will practice through
daily field trips in Chianti. The successive
three weeks will be held at the school premises
in Florence and will focus on acquiring good
skills in darkroom work. The students will work
on three assignments/projects given by the professor
that will be critically reviewed every week.
You’ll develop a final portfolio. The
entire course will be based on B/W photography.

Watercolor Under the Tuscan
Sun, June 26-July 3 (SA PD WC 210)
This course focuses on observation. Emphasis
is on the creative interpretation of the figure,
object compositions, nature and open air painting.
Learn how to draw, sketch and paint in the Tuscan
countryside. The method will consist of practical
field work and theoretical lectures. Practice
through daily field trips. The successive three
weeks will be held at the school premises in
Florence, continuing the study and practical
work of watercolor techniques.
