You will be staying in a wonderful
place with dappled shade, tropical plants, vine-covered
patios, olive groves, white-washed houses with terra-cotta
roof tiles and, of course, acres of blue sky with
distant mountains and glimpses of the Mediterranean.
Your home-base lies in the hamlet
of Benajarafe Alto, an area called the Axarquia (just
east of Malaga), which nestles in the foothills forming
a stunning backdrop to the Costa del Sol. You’ll
be just a mile from the beach, on 10 acres of Andalusian
countryside. Walk for miles through the olive groves,
by wild flowers and herbs, along a latticework of
ancient paths, troubled only by an offer of wine from
a local farmer. Along the coast there are safe, sandy
beaches with friendly merenderos selling sizzling
sardines. A few minutes drive inland and you will
discover little villages of whitewashed houses and
harnessed pairs of oxen, tilling the fields.

| Your art course tutor is an
accomplished watercolor artist, based in England,
with over 25 years of experience in providing
watercolor painting holidays, and courses in England,
Spain and France. His programs are intended to teach
individuals within small groups to paint in watercolor
with confidence, in a free and impressionist style.
During your stay you’ll visit
local villages to paint or sketch. In addition,
trips could be organized to Granada, Cordoba and
Malaga. Back at your home-base, non-painting partners
can relax by the swimming pool and on the patios,
join the painting group on their excursions, or
wander off on their own to play golf, or swim in
the sea.
Also, on-site for participants
are a well-equipped studio, a potter’s wheel,
and computer controlled kiln. The cook lives nearby
and delights guests with her variety of Spanish
cuisine. All courses are restricted to about ten
painters although accompanying non-painters are
always welcome.
