The most European-like city in Latin
America has a unique history and culture, and an active
nightlife. Buenos Aires is an exciting city to explore
and easy to get around. During your North American
winter, enjoy summer in Buenos Aires. Don’t
miss the activity on Sundays at the San Telmo Antique
Market, explore the Caminito, stroll along the riverfront,
go to a polo match or soccer game, and relax with
the locals at the outdoor cafes.
Study Spanish in one of Buenos Aires’ premiere
neighborhoods, Belgrano. The neighborhood features
quiet tree-lined streets close to many restaurants,
bars, and cafes. And it’s convenient to the
centro, less than two blocks from the subway stop.
You may live in the neighborhood or in the centro,
an easy 15-20 minute subway ride against rush hour
traffic.
On weekends, visit Patagonia, where you will find
some of the most beautiful natural sites in the world,
or Iguazu Falls, a canyon of 275 waterfalls encompassed
by a subtropical jungle. If you go during our summer
months (which is their winter), you can plan a skiing
excursion.
Remember, winter is mid-June, July, August, early
September.

“This program has been phenomenal!
The classes are interesting. I’ve learned a lot
from the other students as well who are from various parts
of the world. My host family is incredible! They have
been instrumental in getting me familiar with Buenos Aires,
which is a fabulous city. The school staff is friendly,
patient and has frequently organized activities. They
are always willing to give us advice on everything from
shopping to sightseeing.”

| Volunteer
Supplement |
| While in Latin America you can
participate as a volunteer for a local organization.
Opportunities exist for helping children’s
organizations, working in public hospitals, for
environmental groups and many others. The normal
schedule of morning classes makes it possible to
volunteer in the afternoon or weekends. While many
positions require an advanced level of Spanish and
a minimum time commitment of several weeks, there
are many possibilities for people with basic level
Spanish and only 2 weeks available. The placement
is free of charge. When you arrive and begin your
studies arrangements will be made to visit some
organizations where you would qualify. It is up
to you to select and be approved by the organization
of your choice.
Minimum: 2 weeks
Volunteer placement assistance
is a free service we provide for Spanish language
students.
