Considered by many Latin America’s
most progressive country, Chile offers the student
modern amenities while still holding onto an important
colonial and indigenous past. The economic growth
of the past decades has given Chile first world health
and safety conditions, and so, foreigners have little
trouble adjusting. Chile is one of the world’s
outdoor sports capitals. People come from all over
the world for rafting, hiking, mountain climbing,
surfing, and skiing. The south contains the famous
lakes region and Patagonia, while the north has one
of the world’s driest deserts.
Santiago’s cosmopolitan area is home to 5 million
people and supports many cultural activities and nightlife
options - from theater to all night salsa clubs. Choose
from a wide variety of activities to supplement the
Spanish language classes and practice your Spanish
outside of the classroom.
Santiago is located in the geographical heart of Chile.
Beaches are only 100 km to the west, while the Andes
mountains begin to rise at the city’s eastern
edge. Comfortable long-distance buses provide convenient
access to the north’s deserts and the south’s
lakes.
Study Spanish on a quiet side street in a residential
neighborhood of Providencia. You’ll be close
to many restaurants, bars, and cafes, as well as major
bus routes and the Metro (Station: Manuel Montt).
Remember, winter is mid-June, July, August, early
September.

What People are Saying
“For those who want to rapidly
accelerate their language proficiency while at the same
time having a wonderful vacation, I can’t imagine that
there is any better school in all of Latin America. The
teachers were fantastic, the staff was friendly, helpful
and always accommodating, and the many activities were
well organized, educational, enlightening, and fun. Chileans
are extraordinarily warm, kind, helpful and gregarious
people with a true affinity for visitors desiring to learn
their language.”

| Spanish & Ski |
With Santiago sitting at the
foot of the Andes, the capital city provides great
access for local skiing and snowboarding opportunities
(just 1 hour from Santiago). Nearby peaks rise to
over 5,000 meters (19,000 feet), giving the city
a remarkable backdrop. Choose any of the above three
course options and add on skiing. The Spanish &
Ski package includes two weekly lift tickets plus
transportation (door-to-mountain); one ticket during
the week and another for the weekend. You may select
which days you go based on weather conditions. The
Chilean ski season runs from late June through September.

of “group + private”, 20 hours group
plus 10 hours private. Fees are the same as for
standard courses. All exam levels consist of the

grammar, and vocabulary. The preparation courses
cover all components with particular emphasis on
your areas of more limited capabilities.
Each level, i.e., Beginner, Intermediate, Superior,
is 3 weeks long.
Requirements to sit for exams: photocopy of
passport, application forms, payment of fee.

| Volunteer
Supplement |
| While in Latin America you can
participate as a volunteer for a local organization.
Opportunities exist for helping children’s
organizations, working in public hospitals, for
environmental groups and many others. The normal
schedule of morning classes makes it possible to
volunteer in the afternoon or weekends. While many
positions require an advanced level of Spanish and
a minimum time commitment of several weeks, there
are many possibilities for people with basic level
Spanish and only 2 weeks available. The placement
is free of charge. When you arrive and begin your
studies arrangements will be made to visit some
organizations where you would qualify. It is up
to you to select and be approved by the organization
of your choice.
