Maceió, a modern city on the
northeastern coast of Brazil, is surrounded by some
of the most beautiful beaches in South America, and
the perfect place to experience Brazilian culture.
Compared to other large Brazilian cities, Maceió
has a calmer atmosphere and offers great opportunities
to become immersed in the local culture. Combine your
Portuguese studies in a very small language class
with cooking, dance, and history classes. Because
of the small class size instructors dedicate more
time to each student enabling students to develop
Portuguese language skills at a very fast rate. In
your free time, take excursions to the rainforest
and sea cow reserves near Maceió, or relax
on the beach.
São Paulo: As the biggest city in South America and
one of the three largest in the world, São Paulo is
considered one of Latin America’s most important
industrial, financial and cultural centers. The city
offers an an array of activities and an exciting nightlife.
Attractions include the baroque Teatro Municipal,
Niemeyer’s Edifício Copan, the Museu de Arte
de São Paulo (MASP) and the 16th-century Patío do
Colégio. Study Portuguese in Perdizes, on the city’s
west side, one of the most populated districts in
São Paulo.
