Stories from the road
3 Vacations in 1
Combination eduVacations take-off in Europe!
In the Spring of ’98, Valerie felt
excited about exploring more than Bordeaux Wines; so why
not Cooking in Provence, too, and also studying intensive
French for 1-week with a home-stay and private lessons in
the Teacher’s Home in Bordeaux? We put our heads together
and found she could schedule all 3 eduVacations back to
back to create a great 3-week summer adventure, perfecting
her language skills while also learning about French cooking
and wines.
Meanwhile, Lauren called about the painting
workshop in Southern France. After we found a week available
for her, she thought something in Italy might be fun too.
She liked my suggestion – Italian and Tuscan Cooking
in her Teacher’s Home. Just when I thought I had her
eduVacation pulled together, she called looking for a Teacher’s
Home experience in Germany. After inquiring with my contacts,
I discovered Inge, who became our Total Immersion host in
Germany. That was it, Lauren’s 3rd week. When she
returned to the States she sent us a lengthy letter expressing
how happy she was with her trip: “...thank you for
helping me to set up this vacation. You made it run very
smoothly and I appreciated it! I will definitely look you
up when the time comes to eduVacate again!”
We encourage eduVacators to do as Lauren
and Valerie did, mix ‘n match a few eduVacational
interests and destinations. Another combination eduVacator,
Victor, took off on an ambitious 3 part adventure for 2
1/2 months. He began in Barcelona in February learning Spanish
in our Teacher’s Home eduVacation; next, on to Bordeaux
for a group French course and to live with a host family
for one month; followed by Florence for a group Italian
course, plus cooking and wines for another 4 weeks.
Over the years eduVacators have created
some great combination eduVacations in other ways: combining
2 interests in one destination, such as Eva’s, study
French & ski (with lessons) in Leysin, Switzerland or
Nick’s Spanish and Golf in Malaga; and combining with
a travel partner who has different interests than you, such
as Kate’s and Dan’s southern France sojourn
in Calvisson, she painted while he drove to Montpellier
for morning French classes.
These are examples of special adventures
we have coordinated for clients over the years with our
excellent partners abroad. Now, on the new eduVacations
site, you can book 3 eduVacations in one trip and plan it
yourself and save a lot! Or, if you aren’t up for
the work and time it takes to plan your own trip, eduVacations
can still do it for you as a “Custom” eduVacation
(see Custom eduVacations). No matter where you go or what
you do, get ready for a great adventure!
